Derbyshire - July 2013

Andy, Rob and Neil together with Abby and Pip had a weekend camping at the Duke of York in Pomeroy, Derbyshire.

On Friday we walked to Earl Sterndale for a pint at the Quiet Woman and then carried on to Parkhouse Hill. Pip was severely put upon by a herd of heifers on the way back to the pub, where owing to the excessive heat, we were forced to have another pint.

Pip comments on the indignity of being chased across a field by Bovril on the hoof.

On Saturday we walked from Miller's Dale to Monsall Head along the old railway line and had a pint or two at the hotel before returning along the line. Too many cyclists to be comfortable, especially with dogs.

Saturday - breakfast (enormous, with bloody marys at Simon & Sheila's caravan. What's wrong with a tent you weeds? Thanks for the breakfasts). Then a walk from the camp site, through Lynton to Heddons Mouth and the Hunters Inn. A near mutiny on the coast path was averted by Sheila constantly telling Simon that the pub was just around the next corner. Some of us started the walk back from the pub to be picked up by Simon and Rob at about half distance.
